Paul Wadle    R.I.P.

Honorary Pre Charter Member

Club President 1971

Almost immediately after the idea of attempting to put together a Corvette Club in Waco , Texas (1967) the first club volunteer appeared. His name was Paul Wadle. Although not an owner of a Corvette at that time there was one in his near future.

As it was in the very beginning (1967) of the emerging "Waco Corvette Club" later changed to the "Cen Tex Corvette Club" or CTCC for incorporation purposes of the time was required to establish a Corvette club dictated by G.M. Only Corvette owners were to be allowed membership so Paul was unable to become a member of the forming club. Paul therefore was denied official membership so was therefore granted an honorary PRE Charter Member membership.

Paul was the epidemy of a perfect club member. One that was made of the right stuff. Paul was a true Corvette enthusiast. He loved the car. At that time Paul was enrolled at Baylor as an art major. He owned a new Maroon F-85 two door post Oldsmobile with a four speed. A collectors car by today's standard.

Not owning a Corvette did not deter Paul from being passionate about the car. Even as a non member he continued to remain engaged in the startup effort throughout the thick and thin of the trials and tribulations of a growing club. Paul was a very sincere and loyal participant in all club planning and events. Too bad the club has so few of these today. Regretfully by the time that Paul purchased his 1965 Stingray coupe in 1970 all the Charter Membership positions had been filled. From the very beginning Paul was a far more dedicated/committed member than most of the members that came after. Paul's many contributions and before he finally purchased his Corvette to finally allow his formal membership. Paul was a key player in securing the idea of a Corvette Club in Waco. For those that never met Paul you missed an opportunity and those that did meet Paul knows what a great person he was.

If only the club today had more enthusiastic members like this today it might not be in the condition it is.
