NCCC and CTCC Early Years

From 1968 thru about 1971 CTCC was free of NCCC affiliation and reported to no one. We made our own way void of external influence unlike today.

In 1971 CTCC took on a new colorful member that was an avid Corvette collector, enthusiast and competitor. His name was Mike Farley. Mike had a rare new L89 427 not L88. He wished to compete his Corvettes against other Corvette's across the nation.

Before Mike joined CTCC he had prior knowledge of the NCCC  He convinced CTCC to further explore the inclusion of CTCC into the NCCC.

Mike had several Corvette's that competed nationally in NCCC concourse and other Drag Race classes, sanctions such as AHRA, IHRA and NHRA events and held national records in all sanctions at that time. The 1968 Corvette pictured was a consistent 9.6 Second E.T. at 147 M.P.H. was the gas record holder. Very impressive stats for that era.

At that time CTCC had little to no interest in being involved with NCCC but if a member did wish to do so they could become  "Members At Large"  within NCCC of which both Mike and I did so we could compete at the national NCCC level. Mike was not only the South West regional representative he was the first NCCC member within CTCC to join NCCC and Randy Todd was the second. Believe to have been around 1971 when the club at last voted to join NCCC.

Mike also owned his own 2 engine Beechcraft which he flew us to and from the Governors meeting.

The first two NCCC members were -

1. Mike Farley - First CTCC NCCC Governor

2. Randy Todd - Assistant CTCC NCCC Governor

Mike would later relocate his racing interest to Mississippi and founded the Dixie Corvette Association. This organization opted to be a full membership participation club within the NCCC immediately and other records set within that club as well.

No expense was spared representing the CTCC at the time when the club had limited resources to advance the Club name within NCCC.

How is wisdom related to aging? While many people associate wisdom with advanced age, becoming wise clearly requires more than "just" growing old.
Conventional thinking suggest that the older one becomes the wiser they get, however never is heard of gaining more energetic.
How is this working out for CTCC?
