And of course the one and the only such "Chevrolet Corvette Trophy" ever received by the CTCC. CTCC founders decided to award this Plaque to the most active member of 1968.
The Sterling Silver Plaques were a two year only G.M. program. Entire program was halted after 1969. The sterling Silver Plaques were only awarded two years to registered G.M. Corvette clubs,1968 & 1969 which more clearly defines why they are seldom seen.
How is wisdom related to aging? While many people associate wisdom with advanced age, becoming wise clearly requires more than "just" growing old.
Conventional thinking suggest that the older one becomes the wiser they get, however never is heard of gaining more energetic.
How is this working out for CTCC?

"Chevrolet Corvette Trophy"
the club chooses to discount/Deny
While visiting the National Corvette Museum In Bowling Green, Kentucky the museum historian was approached and inquired what history the museum might have relevant to the once very coveted and now "Chevrolet Corvette Trophy" program (1959 - 1968).
The museum certainly understands the relevance of this historical award enough to include several examples of this award in their Corvette collection that are on display. At that time the museum was only successful locating.... A 1963 "Chevrolet Corvette Trophy" a 1959 "Chevrolet Corvette Trophy" and a 1960 "Chevrolet Corvette Trophy". Regrettably not all club historians understand the significance of this long standing Corvette club trophy because they were simply too young therefore never exposed in the tradition. This is but one reason the club historian is important and not just a place holder. This office requires ALOT of work but, oh yea we are talking CTCC here.
The visit was made to the museum to witness first hand and confirm the existence of these very collectable and difficult to locate Corvette trophies. As stated an example of the 1959, 1960 and 1963 trophies are wisely display securely behind glass. Photos are posted below.
Although the 1959 trophy is not pristine the museum still has it on display next to the perfect 1963 issue.
It would seem logical that if the National Corvette Museum concluded that it is significant enough to include these "G.M. Chevrolet Corvette Trophies" in their collection of Corvette history that any Corvette club that had any "Chevrolet Corvette Trophies" awarded in its history would likewise conclude the same at local club level. So very few clubs today are even aware of this G.M. historical program.
If anyone knows of others that might wish to help complete the National Corvette Museum collection of "Chevrolet Corvette Trophies" please contact the National Corvette Museum.
Each club was permitted to do as they wished with the trophy.
The 1968 the inaugural officers decided to make this the first Presidents trophy. Little did we realize that G.M. was wishing to reduce cost so this would be last year of that program.
In 1968 the inaugural officers were desperate for ideas to garner club growth so a points system was created as a possible solution. As should have been accepted there was a member, and still is, that could only complain mostly due to their inability to accumulate enough points if someone joined later in the year which may have been a valid concern. This is the best/only idea available to us at that time. Rather than try to justify the system it was less complicated just to abolish it altogether to appease.
Lewis Ellis was the President in 1968. His decision was to present the G.M. Chevrolet Trophy to the member with the most accumulated points at years end at the first annual CTCC banquet (1/1969) . CTCC inaugural President and the inaugural Vice President were tied in points and the Lewis did not wish to award it to himself so the trophy was presented to Randy Todd.
Again and have been expected the same member could only complain. That's when we all learned that you will never be able to please everyone. Our skin got a little bit thicker.
